NorthWords NWT and Northern Quill Publishing are staging their first “Flash Fiction” writing contest.

Starting on April 1, the literary non-profit and publishing group are inviting stories on the theme of “edges.”

“Flash fiction means short stories. In this case, we are looking for 1,000-word pieces, which is about three to four pages,” said Northern Quill Publishing co-owner Amber Henry.

Henry said the contest is “a way to promote what we do, and we wanted to find a way to publish people quickly, so we asked NorthWords to help us out.”
