Bachelor of Social Work and Bachelor of Education at Aurora College
Aurora College will soon be offering both Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) and Bachelor of Education (BEd) programs to students interested in pursuing those careers.
Beginning in fall 2025, students can enrol in the new General Studies Diploma, which will be a common pathway to the degree programs. General Studies students will complete two years of university-level credits and then apply to enter directly into the third year the Social Work and Education degrees at Aurora College.
There is a critical demand for social workers and teachers in the Northwest Territories, especially Northern and Indigenous graduates. Aurora College’s General Studies, Bachelor of Social Work and Bachelor of Education programs will all feature a northern, Indigenous focus in the curricula that will prepare graduates to work with Northern and Indigenous residents.
General Studies students may also be able to apply to transfer their credits to other diploma and degree programs at Aurora College and some other post-secondary institutions.
General Studies
The General Studies Diploma will be delivered in person at Thebacha Campus in Fort Smith, NT as well as online for students anywhere in the Northwest Territories and Canada.
