Description

The Department of Natural Resources (NRCAN) has a requirement to provide geophysical services in support of a study to evaluate the potential of tensor gradiometry for both geoscience and magnetic anomaly detection (MAD) applications. This research aims to conduct a series of geophysical surveys for both geoscience and MAD applications using backpack mounted and remotely piloted aircraft (RPA), Full tensor magnetic gradiometry (FTMG) nitrogen vacancy in diamond (NVD) sensor arrays. The research will inform geological studies and allow NRCAN to enhance the capabilities of NRCAN’s existing RPA to fly FTMG surveys.

The work will involve the following:

• Provide all the necessary facilities, equipment including FTMG sensors, GPS and ruggedized back-pack (for terrestrial surveying) and materials, to collect and deliver ground FTMG magnetic field data.
• Deploy technical experts to perform ground FTMG geophysical surveys as well as sensor calibration, troubleshooting, and daily quality assurance/control of the sensor systems.
• Provide the raw measurements collected as well as processed data channels and maps.
• Provide a brief field survey report following each survey.
