The Northwest Territories Nominee Program will re-open its application intake on January 16, 2025 at 9:00 a.m. MST. Individuals can apply online through the application portal on the Northwest Territories Nominee Program website and applications will be processed in the order they are received. Incomplete applications will not be accepted.

For January 2025 intake, the Government of the Northwest Territories will be accepting 100 new complete applications and setting allotments for the total number of applications it will accept under each Stream.

  • Under the Francophone Stream, 10 applications will be accepted
  • Under the Employer-Driven Stream, 45 applications will be accepted for Entry Level/Semi-Skilled Occupations category, and 45 for the Skilled Worker and NWT Express Entry categories combined.

This change is intended to ensure employers have access to a pool of workers with a variety of skillsets that can meet the labour needs of the Northwest Territories. If a category receives enough applications to fulfill its allocation of nominations, it will be paused until further notice.

The total number of nominations issued under the Employer-Driven Stream and Francophone Streams have risen steadily in recent years, from 77 in 2020 to over 300 in 2024.

Nomination allocations are set by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). Since the Northwest Territories Nominee Program’s 2025 allocation has not yet been confirmed by IRCC, the program will be accepting 100 new applications beginning January 2025. Once IRCC provides the 2025 allocation, an additional intake period may be added later in the year.

Applicants are encouraged to review the program guidelines and application checklists and begin compiling required information and documentation before the program re-opens. If you have questions, please phone 1 (855) 440-5450, email immigration@gov.nt.ca, or visit www.immigratenwt.ca.
