Have Your Say on the Development of an Indigenous Procurement Policy
April 16, 2025
The Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT) is seeking public input on the development of an Indigenous Procurement Policy (IPP).
The GNWT is committed to increasing Indigenous participation in government contracts. The Indigenous Procurement Policy will help achieve this by creating more opportunities for Indigenous businesses.
The policy will support local economic growth, job creation, and skills development—contributing to stronger, more resilient communities and advancing reconciliation across the territory.
Businesses, business organizations, and residents are welcome to share input on the definition of an NWT Indigenous business as well as possible approaches for supporting these businesses in GNWT procurement opportunities. The GNWT is also working directly with Indigenous governments and organizations as part of this process.
Public engagement sessions will be held in each of the following communities:
- Norman Wells (April 29)
- Inuvik (May 6)
- Tuktoyaktuk (May 7)
- Hay River (May 12)
- Fort Smith (May 13)
- Fort Simpson (May 27)
- Yellowknife (May 28)
