Dene leaders watching Liberals closely after Trudeau ditches Wilson-Raybould and Philpott – CKLB News
April 4, 2019
The Grand Chief of the Dehcho, and President of the Gwichin Tribal Council say they are both disappointed with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau after he expelled Jody Wilson-Raybould and Jane Philpott from the Liberal Caucus.
Both female Grand Chiefs say they looked up to Wilson-Raybould as an Indigenous woman, a lawyer and former regional chief from BC.
“Trudeau said he was going to do politics different, instead it looks like keeping the old boys club alive,” Greenland-Morgan said on CKLB Thursday morning.
Norwegian says while she supports NWT MP Michael McLeod, she will be watching what the Liberals deliver ahead of the fall election.
When the Liberals polled party members on what do to with Jody Wilson-Raybould and Jane Philpott, MP McLeod said he didn’t support ousting the two women from caucus.
In an interview with CKLB yesterday, McLeod said he didn’t think anything would be gained by kicking them out.
