Yukon artists makes art people can use – APTN News

Art has the ability to tell cultural stories and evoke emotions.

While many artists create work to be interpreted, one Yukon carver says he’s making art that people will use.

Duran Henry works out of the Northern Cultural Expressions Society studio in Whitehorse.

He’s a member of the Kwanlin Dun First Nation and comes from a long line of artists.

Henry is best known for his northwest coast designs and prefers to create functional pieces.
