Updated: Notice of public consultations for the Nunavut Territorial Parks Act
21 November 2023
The Government of Nunavut’s Department of Environment is holding public consultations in several Nunavut communities to receive feedback for the modernization of the Nunavut Territorial Parks Act. These consultations are taking place from October 30 to December 31, 2023.
The existing Territorial Parks Act was adopted from the Northwest Territories in 1999. These public consultations provide an opportunity to integrate into the Act provisions of the Nunavut Agreement and the Umbrella Inuit Impacts and Benefits Agreement for Territorial Parks; to incorporate Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit; and to allow the government to formally establish newly created and future territorial parks.
All Nunavummiut and Nunavut organizations are invited to provide input with their views, concerns, opinions, and ideas. Individuals and organizations may participate in person in the consultations planned for their community or provide their feedback in writing by email at parks@gov.nu.ca or mail at:
