Tulita Residents: Have Your Say on the Great Bear River Bridge Fish and Fish Habitat Offsetting Plan
April 17, 2024
The Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT) is seeking input from residents in Tulita on the Fish and Fish Habitat Offsetting Plan for the Great Bear River Bridge project.
A meeting will be held in Tulita where the GNWT will provide an update on the project and discuss the Fish and Fish Habitat Offsetting plan. This meeting will also provide an important opportunity for residents to provide feedback. Door prizes and dinner will be provided.
When: Thursday, April 25, 2024
6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Where: Tulita Community Arena
The proposed bridge, located at kilometre 938 of the Mackenzie Valley Winter Road, will be built 800 metres from the confluence of the Great Bear River and the Mackenzie River in the Sahtu Region of the Northwest Territories. A permanent bridge will extend the winter road season and provide efficiencies for industry. Improved access between communities will provide more social opportunities such as family, recreation, and sporting interactions. It will also improve access to health care facilities and economic opportunities.
Online engagement on the Fish and Fish Habitat Offsetting Plan will be open from April 17 – May 15, 2024. For more information and to submit feedback online, please visit the Have Your Say page.
This engagement was previously postponed due to wildfire.
