Release of the NWT Active Living Framework 2023-2033

Municipal and Community Affairs (MACA) Minister Shane Thompson is pleased to announce that he has approved the NWT Active Living Framework 2023-2033: A strategic approach to recreation, sport and physical activity.

The NWT Active Living Framework 2023-2033 has been developed through fulsome engagement with the sport and recreation sector, and a broad group of organizations and individuals representing underserved or underrepresented portions of the population.

Endorsed by MACA’s key territorial and regional sport and recreation partners, the NWT Active Living Framework 2023-2033 will guide strategic program delivery and investments in the sport and recreation sector.

Implementation of the Active Living Framework will begin in the 20th Legislative Assembly and include the development of a strategic action plan as well as a monitoring and evaluation framework.  Reporting on the progress of the Framework will ensure the program delivery supported by the Framework will remain relevant to NWT residents.
