QIA Opens COVID-19 Community Hunt Program for Applications

Kinngait, Nunavut, June 3, 2022 – The Qikiqtani Inuit Association (QIA) is  accepting applications for the COVID-19 Community Hunt Program (C-CHP)  This is the third round of specific funding made available through the Government of Canada’s Indigenous Community Support Fund.

A one-time, $2,000 contribution, per eligible applicant, is  available through the C-CHP  initiative.  This program funds harvesting activities in the Qikiqtani Region to increase food security and to preserve and advance Inuit harvesting culture. Funding can be used for fuel, food, or other supplies that might be needed while harvesting on-the-land.

If you received funding for the COVID-19 Community Hunt Program in the previous two rounds, you will be eligible for this funding as long as you have completed your reporting duties back to QIA.

Successful applicants will be required to provide receipts of purchases, report on their hunting and distribution activities, and provide details on how many people benefited from their harvest.  Harvesters must share their catch with community members at no cost.
