Now Accepting Nominations for the 2022 ASCNWT Awards

The Aboriginal Sports Circle NWT’s (ASCNWT) Annual Awards Dinner is set to take place Saturday, November 26, 2022 at the Explorer Hotel. The ASCNWT Award program is to recognize and give credit to exceptional community members in the NWT sport system. Those individuals who have continually shown dedication and hard work and have made significant contributions will be honoured for the positive difference they are making in their respective communities.
A yearly Award Dinner is being held to celebrate a person’s involvement in:
- Sport*:This award is presented to an individual who has excelled in their respective sport at various levels of competition. This individual has displayed commitment and dedication to training and competition.
- Coaching*:This award is presented to an individual who has demonstrated the success and dedication necessary in the development of their athletes and program at any level of competition in the NWT.
- Language and Culture*:This award is presented to an individual or group who best demonstrates their commitment to displaying and practicing their culture at any event on any level related to the North’s History of Dene, Métis, or Inuvialuit culture.
- Community Building*:This award is presented to an individual who has contributed a great amount of time and energy into their community to assist the coaches, athletes and others in any sport and recreational event.
*Nominees for these awards must be Indigenous to be eligible.
There are two additional awards presented to an outstanding Teacher and RCMP member. Each year, an award is presented to one teacher and one RCMP who demonstrates their commitment to coach, coordinate, and/or support any sport or cultural activity within NWT communities.
