Iqaluit Fire Department responds to Co-op fire in Igloolik
On January 20th, 2021, six Iqaluit Emergency Services Staff assisted in the Co-op fire in Igloolik at the request of the Nunavut Fire Marshal’s Office (NFMO).
The responding team consisting of two chief officers, three fire staff, and one volunteer accompanied a member of the NFMO on a flight from Iqaluit to Igloolik on January 20th to support the Igloolik fire department.
The crews worked extremely well together to bring the fire under control and safely put out the fire without injury to responders or the public.
The Iqaluit team returned end of day on January 21st leaving the Igloolik fire department to work with their partners for next steps.
The City thanks the remaining staff in Iqaluit for keeping our emergency services running with no impact to our city.
