The Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT) is inviting residents to provide feedback on two highway infrastructure projects: the replacement of the Jean Marie River bridge and the removal of existing culverts and new bridge construction at Redknife River.

The Jean Marie River Bridge – located on highway 1 approximately 65 km south of Fort Simpson – requires replacement as it is reaching the end of its life cycle.

The removal of existing culverts and new bridge construction at Redknife River – located on highway 1 approximately 181 kilometres southeast of Fort Simpson –  will restore fish passage for migratory species. This initiative is the result of a unique and mutually beneficial partnership between the GNWT and Gahcho Kué Mine and is part of a larger initiative to improve stream and river highway crossings throughout the NWT’s highway system.

Engagement sessions are taking place in the following communities:
