Government of Nunavut to distribute Long-Term Service Awards
March 13, 2024
Iqaluit, Nunavut – Minister of Human Resources Margaret Nakashuk will distribute Long-Term Service Awards to 367 Iqaluit employees with five, 10 and 15 years of service on Thursday, March 14, and Friday, March 15, 2024, at the Aqsarniit Hotel. The awards presented recognize anniversaries from the period of 2020-22 and eligible employees have already received their invitations to the events.
“The Long-Term Service Awards are a meaningful recognition for our deserving long-term employees and serve as an important reminder of how resilient we are when we work together, and how much we’ve achieved,” said Minister Nakashuk. “These milestones are to be celebrated as they represent our way of giving thanks to those who have served Nunavummiut for many years.”
The Long-Term Service Awards honour eligible employees who serve continuously in the public service and without an interruption in their employment. The recognition for eligible employees is provided in five-year increments of continuous public service.
Eligible employees across Nunavut will be recognized in their communities, and a gala will be held later to honour employees with over 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, and 45-plus years of continuous public service.
Time off with pay is provided for employees receiving awards to attend the awards ceremony if it occurs during regular working hours, subject to operational requirements and with prior approval from their Deputy Head.
