In 2021, the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, along with the Exchange Income Corporation, and several indigenous organizations, announced a partnership to honor Canada’s National Day for Truth and Reconciliation to recognize Indigenous people who were impacted by Residential Schools. Kivalliq Inuit Association is pleased to announce that the partnership for the 2022 football season will be continued.

In partnership with Calm Air, KIA will be selecting names of those residing in Arviat, Baker Lake, Chesterfield Inlet, Coral Harbour, Naujaat, Rankin Inlet, Sanikiluaq, and Whale Cove. 10 tickets are provided per community for the Winnipeg Blue Bomber’s home game against the Saskatchewan Roughriders on Friday, September 30, 2022, at 7:00 P.M.

Each guest will receive:

  • One ticket to the game
  • 3 nights hotel accommodation (guests are scheduled to fly to Winnipeg on September 29, 2022, and fly back to their communities on October 3, 2022)
  • Transportation round trip to the game from a designated meeting place
  • A special game day hooded sweatshirt and toque
  • A meal voucher for use at IG Field (Hotdog, chips, non-alcoholic drink)

A special pre-game ceremony will take place to welcome the selected guests. Each community will nominate two (2) guests to be entered into a draw to participate in the on field, pre-game ceremony. The selected guests will run out of the tunnel in advance of the team. For the 2022 season, the CFL requires anyone entering the field of play ONLY to be vaccinated. However, providing proof of COVID-19 vaccination is not required to attend games at IG field.

An application form will be posted on the KIA website at www.kivalliqinuit.ca for those who wish to apply online. The Community Liaison Officer’s (CLO) in each Kivalliq community will have a copy of the application as well. Please note there is an age limit for this event for ages 10 years and up. For the purpose of having a safe travel experience for children between the ages of 10-17 that get selected will have their parent/guardian automatically selected to travel as well which will count towards the 10 available slots per community. Maximum 2 minors per parent/guardian.

Deadline to submit your application is Wednesday, August 17th, 2022 at 11:59 P.M CST. The names will be selected using a random generator application, and the KIA selection team will be aired live on the KIA Facebook page on Friday August 19, 2022.

Kind regards,
