150 Plus Reasons to Promote Reconciliation at the World Indigenous Nations Games (WIN Games) This July in Canada Treaty 6 Territory

April 26th, 2017-WIN Games 2017 is hosting an Informational Session as an Official UNPFII [United Nations Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues] Side Event today, In New York.

This coming July, WIN Games 2017, co-hosted by the Enoch Cree Nation, the University of Alberta and the City of Edmonton, will gather adult Indigenous athletes from around the World, competing and demonstrating many sports from Indigenous traditions. The games, which will also showcase Indigenous traditions & customs, have been endorsed by the International Olympic Committee since 2015.

Ambassador for the Win Games, Grand Chief Dr. J. Wilton (Willie) Littlechild comments, “The WIN games are a celebration of life through sports and cultures. Indigenous Peoples from all around the world are coming together, unified in their traditional sports and Indigenous values.”

In the tradition of International games, WIN Games 2017 is also an opportunity for the hosts to demonstrate their hospitality to the World: “We are proud of our contribution as one of the founding Nations of today’s Canada.” , says Chief Billy Morin from Enoch Cree Nation of Treaty 6 territory.

WIN Games 2017 will include International conferences and a full program of events promoting Reconciliation and the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples.

The WIN Games informational UNPFII Side Event is scheduled for Wednesday April 26, 2017 @

  • 15pm to 2:30 pm EST, in the Amaryrta Sen Conference Room, FF Building, 304 East 45th Street, near United Nations Headquarters, NYC, USA.
