Your 2018 Indigenous JUNO Nominees Are… – Digital Drum

Thanks to an epic opening performance (A Tribe Called Red featuring Tanya Tagaq and Black Bear Singers), and a quartet of awards (A Tribe Called Red, William Prince, Quantum Tangle and Buffy Sainte-Marie), the 2017 Juno Awards shone a well-deserved and long-overdue spotlight on the Indigenous music scene in Canada. After the nominee announcements on Feb. 6, this year’s awards show looks to be just as promising.

In all, eight Indigenous artists are up for awards in five different categories. Leading the way with two nominations each – including Contemporary Roots Album of the Year, won by Winnipeg’s William Prince in 2017 – are The Jerry Cans and living legend Buffy Sainte-Marie.
