Update on our operations to areas affected by Northern Alberta wildfires

Since Tuesday evening, Canadian North has operated many extra flights from Northern Alberta. Wednesday alone, we moved over 5,100 passengers on 71 charter flights to and from the areas around Fort McMurray, a large number of who were evacuees. We also moved a considerable amount of supplies northward. This far exceeds our typical operations and does not include the many pets we also carried! We will continue to operate a large number of flights today. We are proud to do all we can to serve those in need, and will work hard until this crisis subsides, with the safety of our passengers and crew members always our number one priority.

We’ve been touched by the many calls and emails we’ve received from concerned citizens wanting to assist people impacted by the wildfires. The Canadian Red Cross has been doing outstanding work coordinating relief efforts, so we would suggest donating to assist their Alberta Fire Relief Campaign. Donations can be made to the Red Cross via their website at https://donate.redcross.ca/ea-action/action… by phone at 1-800-418-1111, or by texting REDCROSS to 30333.

Our scheduled operations are continuing, albeit with some potential changes to departure/arrival times or aircraft type. If you are travelling on a Canadian North scheduled flight, you can contact us at 1.800.661.1505 for updated flight information.

Thank you to everyone who has pitched in to help the many evacuees arriving on our flights into Edmonton and Calgary, including our employees who have worked extended hours to assist wherever and however needed. This is truly a team effort with many wonderful people and organizations involved. Our thoughts remain with the people of Fort McMurray!
