To be eligible, applicants must be an SOI alumna/alumnus from Northern Canada; propose a project that benefits a community, area or regions of the Canadian Arctic; form a project team that includes an SOI-approved mentor(s); and complete the project before March 1, 2017.

Students on Ice expeditions are life-changing journeys that educate, inspire and empower youth across the sciences, culture and the arts. Through the POLAR Inspiration Grant, SOI provides northern alumni an opportunity to leverage their experience on expedition and SOI’s global network of alumni and experts to benefit the Canadian Arctic.

The POLAR Inspiration Grants are an initiative of SOI’s Arctic Youth & Partnership program, developed to support SOI’s Arctic alumni through educational and professional opportunities as well as the resources and mentorship to make a difference in their communities.
