Elected officials attended the grand opening of Aurora College’s Centre for Mine and Industry Training
Federal and territorial officials cut the ribbon on a $10.4 million mine training facility at Aurora College on Monday.
The Centre for Mine and Industry Training in Fort Smith includes vehicle bays, space for mining equipment, classrooms and offices.
It was built with about $4 million from the federal government and $6.3 million from the Government of the Northwest Territories.
N.W.T. MP Michael McLeod, who was on hand for the official unveiling, said in a statement that investments in the college will help foster innovation and keep the territory’s economy “globally competitive.”
