The Department of Environment would like to remind Nunavummiut to review applicable wildlife regulations before hunting.

In Nunavut, it is prohibited to use rimfire ammunition, as well as ammunition of less than 5.56 mm in diameter when hunting big game. Hunters must also make sure not to waste or abandon harvested animals. This includes the edible portions as well as the hide of the animal(s).

Wildlife regulations are in place to ensure the ethical and sustainable harvesting of wildlife in Nunavut. It is the responsibility of all harvesters to know and follow the regulations.
