EVENT: Call for Applications; Kakivak Association, Nunavut Planning Commission, Nunavut Disabilities Council, Inuit Broadcasting Corporation, Joint Parks Management Committee

The Qikiqtani Inuit Association (QIA) is looking for energetic and dynamic individuals to fill various board and committee positions. To be considered, candidates must be actively and personally committed to represent the interest of Qikiqtani Inuit and have a sound understanding of the Nunavut Agreement as it relates to the roles and mandates of the position.

Kakivak Association (one position, two-year term)

The Kakivak Association is a community and economic development organization serving Inuit, by providing business, employment and training services to enhance the strengths of communities in the Qikiqtani region.

Nunavut Planning Commission (one position, three-year term)

The Nunavut Planning Commission is responsible for the development, implementation and monitoring of land use plans that guide and direct resource use and development in the Nunavut Settlement Area.

Nunavut Disabilities Council (one position, one-year term)

The Nunavut Disabilities Council promotes awareness, opportunity, choice and participation in all aspects of life to help all Nunavummiut living with disability achieve independence, self-determination and full citizenship in their communities.

Inuit Broadcasting Corporation (one position, three-year term)

The Inuit Broadcasting Corporation (IBC) promotes the understanding of Inuit culture and language through the media industry. The IBC programming provides a cultural and communication link through which Inuit can exercise their rights and freedom of expression.

The following Committees are also seeking membership:

  • Joint Parks Management Committee, Quttinniqpaaq National Park, for the communities of Resolute Bay and Grise Fiord (three-year term).
  • Joint Parks Management Committee for territorial parks in Clyde River, Sanikiluaq and Grise Fiord (three-year term).

QIA wishes to ensure complete Inuit participation in the implementation of the Nunavut Agreement. As such, QIA has implemented an open and accountable process for considering qualified candidates. Please note that a criminal records check may be required for appointments/nominations.
