QEC: Possible scams targeting utility customers

by ahnationtalk on April 3, 2020175 Views

Qulliq Energy Corporation (QEC) is warning Nunavummiut of possible scams targeting utility customers. Callers claiming to be utility representatives are demanding immediate payment from customers to prevent disconnection of their electricity supply.

At this time, QEC would like to inform customers that the corporation will not be performing disconnections of accounts or installing load limiters until further notice. These measures have been put in place to ensure that customers can avoid undue hardship during the COVID-19 pandemic.

If you receive a suspicious call, please hang up and contact QEC’s Customer Care division at 1-866-710-4200. A QEC representative will confirm if the phone call is valid.

QEC thanks customers for their understanding as we respond to the evolving COVID-19 situation.
