Whitehorse, YT – June 19, 2015 – This week, Northwestel kicked off its celebration of National Aboriginal Day with special, exclusively Aboriginal programming on its community TV stations in Yellowknife and Whitehorse. The company plans to continue joining the celebration through the weekend over social media and in person at events in Whitehorse and Yellowknife.

“Northwestel is proud to celebrate National Aboriginal Day with our customers, the communities we serve and our many Aboriginal employees and their families,” says Paul Flaherty, Northwestel President and CEO. “This is the time to come together to recognize and celebrate the culture and contributions of Aboriginal peoples here in the North and across the country.”

The special Aboriginal Day TV lineup features content for the whole family, from the animated children’s adventure Anash and the Legend of Sun Rock, to The Hunt and The Walk – A Path to Healing, a pair of documentaries from award-winning filmmaker Dennis Allen.
