2019 ITK Awards, including Inuit Cultural Repatriation Award, presented to Inuit recipients

Monday, September 9, 2019 –Rankin Inlet, Nunavut – Inuit Tapiriit Kanatami will hold its Annual General Meeting and launch the National Inuit Health Survey this week in Rankin Inlet, Nunavut. ITK’s 2019 annual report, including audited financial statements, will be presented during the meeting.

The AGM will run from September 11-12. The ITK Awards will be presented during a community feast on September 11. The awards recognize Inuit who are contributing to their communities. The 2019 Inuit Cultural Repatriation Award will also be presented. The award was presented for the first time in 2017 to encourage the repatriation of Inuit cultural property.

On September 12, Inuit leaders will formally launch Qanuippitaa? National Inuit Health Survey, which was created following a 2018 federal budget announcement of $82 million over 10 years and $6 million a year ongoing.
