Four Whitehorse organizations will receive rental assistance funding to help victims of family violence gain and maintain affordable housing. This funding is available through the Canada-Yukon Investment in Affordable Housing Agreement.

The rent supplement funding allows Yukon Anti-Poverty Coalition, Victoria Faulkner Women’s Centre, Fetal Alcohol Syndrome Society of Yukon and Blood Ties Four Directions to cover a portion of some of their clients’ rent, thereby ensuring that more Yukoners will have safe housing.

Each organization will receive $10,000 to help victims of violence access the rental market, which will reduce the pressures on waitlists for shelters and social housing programs. A total of $40,000 will flow to these organizations between now and October 2018.

Yukon Housing Corporation is still accepting applications for the Victims of Violence Program, including funding for capital projects and housing-related programming.
